What is digital radiography?
Digital radiography is an advanced imaging system that allows us to capture high-definition digital images of your teeth, jawbone, and other supporting structures. While traditional radiography uses X-ray film, digital X-rays instead use a digital sensor. This makes the process faster and more comfortable for the patient, and developing digital X-rays does not require any chemicals needed for traditional X-rays. In addition, digital X-rays utilize up to 90% less radiation.

What can be seen with digital X-rays?
Our dentist is able to use digital imaging in Virginia Beach, Virginia, to identify and diagnose a number of dental problems, including the following:

• Tooth decay between teeth
• Infection in the tooth nerve
• Fractures in existing dental fillings
• Cysts and abscesses
• Impacted teeth
• Improper tooth root positions
• Developmental abnormalities
• Tumors (cancerous and non-cancerous)

Digital X-rays help Dr. Ronald Fuhrmann to detect conditions that may not be visible to the unassisted eye. In addition, our team uses X-rays to plan certain types of treatment, including root canal therapy (endodontics), TMJ treatment, and Invisalign®. We welcome you to call or visit our office today to learn more about digital radiography and the other advanced technology we use at our dental practice. We look forward to speaking with you soon!
